Our Work
The Process, How We Work
-
PHASE 1
The initial phase of design begins with a discussion of design goals, budget considerations and project timelines. Time is spent walking the site and discussing opportunities and challenges with existing topography, site conditions, current architecture, etc. We also review client image folders that depict completed landscape projects, preferred architectural styles, materials, pool designs, outdoor furniture, plants, etc. that reflect the client's design language. Plot plans and architectural plans provide a base layout from which to start design concepts. Initial design layouts will vary in scope, design aesthetics and budget to explore various options and allow the client to visually understand design details and make informed decisions.
-
PHASE 2
After reviewing the various designs of Phase 1, we discuss what elements the client wants to bring forward into Phase 2. Often we combine specific design elements from the optional design layouts. Phase 2 drawings resemble working drawings and include all hardscape layouts, elevations, detailed dimensions, stone patterns, material choices, etc. to allow for better visualizing finished results and to provide contractors with accurate working drawings for pricing of the install.
-
PHASE 3
Phase 3 details planting layout with planting boards showing various trees, shrubs, perennials, ground-covers in various seasons to allow informed discussion on planting choices. While we begin visualizing planting beds in Phase 1, we often wait until the Hardscapes are fully designed and sometimes even installed before we determine exact placement and quantities of plant materials.
Project Management
While we provide design layouts ready for bidding, many of our clients ask us to manage the installation portion of their project. We work with the best contractors in the industry and provide on site daily management of materials, contractor decisions, scheduling and budget invoicing to streamline the installation of complex projects and ensure that each detail from stone pattern layouts to tagging specimen plants at the nursery is done to plan and to the highest standards.
What our customers are saying . . .
“We get excited with each new landscaping project! Working with Jason has always been informative and comes with a host of options. His knowledge of plants and placement saves us from costly mistakes and helps us to appreciate his expertise! He is sensitive to our thoughts and ideas and always seems to put that together with amazing results. He will work with your budget and explain that having a design doesn't mean everything has to be done at once. We are constantly reminded by many townspeople that our landscaping is greatly appreciated by those driving by. If you want to give your home curb appeal and love coming home to something special make an appointment with Jason, you'll be glad you did!”
Nancy Pace
“We worked with Rivendell Landscaping to design the pool of our dreams! They were very accommodating and worked with us as we progressed through the stages of the construction. They provided advice on several key areas and were always easy to get in touch with. Would highly recommend them if you are thinking of putting in a pool or have landscape design needs.”
