Modern Barn
This project centered around a modern barn home set in the historic town of Lexington, MA. Our goal was to create outdoor spaces that were functionally modern in their layout yet incorporated historic materials in their construction. The architecture demanded challenging elevation changes that we solved with stepped retaining walls and Caledonia granite steps. Fastigiate trees created privacy screening along the property lines while reducing shade in the perennial gardens. Natural Goshen stepping stones wind their way throughout the garden and connect living spaces including fire pit terraces, outdoor kitchen space and synthetic lawn space. Finally, landscape lighting provides safe passage and enjoyment in the evening hours.
