With a view framed by mature Hemlocks on one side and a glass house on the other, the spring-fed lake is the focal point of this outdoor space. Nestled into a hillside overlooking the lake this project incorporates a freeform pool with waterfall, outdoor kitchen, generous entertaining areas, octagonal pool house, athletic court and children’s play area. The generous pool area provides ample space for entertaining guests, the pool slide integrated into a natural stone waterfall provides thrills for the kids and the elevated spa overlooks the lake. The elevated dining space with circular surrounding stone and granite outdoor kitchen provides al fresco eating with bronze lighting fixtures adding ambient light throughout the space for night time entertaining. Just across the yard, tucked further up the hillside, resides the custom athletic court for impromptu basketball and tennis matches in the summer and ice hockey in the winter. Sharing the same space is the children’s play set area overlooking the entire yard. Birches, dogwoods, Korean lilacs and Hinoki falsecypress are a few of the many specimens that add structure, texture, color and scents to the garden spaces. In the summer months potted plants around the pool deck allow vibrantly colored tropical plants to add energy to the outdoor space and soften the hardscape surfaces.
